Quick Couplers for Hose

Couplers are made of two parts, the Socket and the Plug/Nipple and are available in 3 configurations:

1-Way

Socket is valved, shutting off supply line at disconnect. Plug is unvalved, exhausting downstream line at disconnect. Install socket on pressure side of line.

Both the Socket & Plug are sealed at disconnect.

Neither Socket nor Plug are sealed. Supply line must be shut off before disconnecting.

Sockets are available in 3 styles:

  • Manual: Manually retract sleeve to connect and disconnect.
  • Automatic: Insert plug without retraction of sleeve. Push Plug in to socket to connect.
  • Safety: (Variation of Automatic) Plug insertion same as Automatic, to remove rotate sleeve left then right to shut off supply line, exhaust the downstream & release the plug.

The Socket & Plug are connected to each other using connection styles/shapes developed for specific needs. These connection styles are known as an Interchange. The various Interchanges reflect the shapes of the connecting ends of the plug and socket. These mating ends must be the same Interchange, or the plug and socket will not connect.

The most common interchange is called the Industrial Interchange.
